Opportunities abound to hear the Orchestra in the coming weeks as many new events have been added to our events calendar, with many more to come. Come, hear us!
It’s that time again. We need your help!
The Silent Auction is our major source of operating funds for the year. We need your donations of items for the Auction. And we need bidders!
The Orchestra is an independent entity and receives no funds from the Unified Government, Community College, or school districts. Our entire existence depends on dues paid by the members and fund raising activities such as the Silent Auction.
Join us on Thursday, April 20th, at Trinity Church, 51st & Parallel, in KCK. We’ll have an interesting selection of music to perform and, hopefully, an interesting assortment of goodies for your bidding pleasure!
See you there.
We’ve updated our events to include our busy Holiday Season schedule! Check out the events page and make plans to join us for some of our performances.
The Orchestra kicked off the season on November 20 with an appearance for Cabela’s VIP Night. New public events have been added to the calendar, with our annual holiday concert on December 10 and our annual appearance at Guardian Angels on December 20. And once again we will provide holiday entertainment for the residents of Olathe Tower on December 17.
We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events.
Thank you for your support in 2015. The new year is rapidly approaching with many more events in store. Keep watching.
Our Fall and Christmas 2014 concerts are now listed in our Events Calendar. You’re in for some great music, so grab those calendars and fill them up with the Kansas City Kansas Community Orchestra events. See you at a concert!

The Kansas City Kansas Community Orchestra held their annual Driveway Concert in Shawnee, KS this past Thursday, June 12. Our conductor’s driveway was filled with musicians and their gear, and his yard was a colorful display of lawnchairs, blankets, dogs, and people – all sprawled out to enjoy an evening of music. The weather could not have been more perfect AND it was superbly timed to have us on the shady side of the house! After a great concert mix of show tunes, big band music, some classic pieces, marches, and a little bit of other, we were ready to stow away the instruments and music to hit the food! What a spread – if anyone left hungry, we have no pity. Talk about a treat! We’re already looking forward to next year’s Driveway Concert!!
Orchestra Members, please make sure to leave your music folder with someone in your section if you know you will not be at the next week’s rehearsal or the next concert. Several people attended rehearsal last night that didn’t have any music to play because someone else had the folder they share. We did enjoy their humming, singing, and sound effects immensely, but there were some missing notes.
Great rehearsal last night; lots of new pieces to read through. Make sure you mark your calendars now for a Mini-Concert on Friday, June 6 in Overland Park; Jeff will get all the details to us soon. Also mark your planners for the Driveway Concert – yes!! – on Thursday, June 12. More details to follow on that one also.
We’ve been rehearsing since January, it’s time to perform! Your first opportunity to hear what we’ve been working on will be March 29th at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Check the Event Calendar often as more appearances will be added soon. And please plan to attend our Spring Concert and Silent Auction. If you have an item you’d like to donate to the Silent Auction, contact the Orchestra. This is our only fund-raising project for the year.
